I think my Gallbladder is on the fritz...

I have heard many people have trouble with their gallbladders after having different types of gastric surgery. Well, I think mine is on the fritz...
2 nights ago while home, husband out of town and boys already asleep I had the worst episode I could imagine. I felt like I was having a heart attack. It was so bad I tried pacing around, ripped my clothes off, laid on the floor, my stomach, the toilet. I literally thought I was dying or that my band has slipped or flipped or something. I kept thinking I better put some clothes back on in case they find me dead!! I seriously considered calling 911 but then the nurse in me said "what if they get here and you are suffering from gas only"! Anyways, I dug out some of my old medicine from when I had the band put in, took some expired Gas-X and did some serious praying. About an hour later the severe pain finally subsided. I had all the classic textbook Gallbladder symptoms. You know us Nurses have to always Self Diagnose...Anyways, if I get any similiar symptoms again I am headed straight to the Dr. If it was my Gallbladder me no likey....

  1. Don't wait for another attack. It sounds like a gallbladder attack. I suffered through months of testing before I FINALLY got mine diagnosed and removed. Best to be proactive about it. Good luck!

Funny story... I was at work when one of my attacks happened so a co-worker took me to the ER in the back of a patrol car. I think the admitting nurse thought I was a DUI... she was so rude until the officer told her I was a co-worker. HAHA. Anyway, getting tossed around the back of a patrol car on hard plastic seats during a gallbladder attack SUCKS! (I think he thought I was dying and was trying to get there really fast!! haha)

  2. I'm sorry! My friend had lap-band surgery and then had to have her gallbladder removed 6 months later. Hope you feel better soon!

  3. ok, so next time CALL ME. If I find you dead, I'll put clothes on you before anyone else gets there. Okay, seriously, I'm so sorry that you're having problems. I hear they're so painful :( :(

  4. Oh no! I hope it wasn't anything too serious. (Says the non-nurse who is a real sissy about pain and would probably have called an ambulance: naked or not!)

  5. oh boy. I am not positive but I also had a scene last night. It was painful in the right side of my chest...like a bad heartburn but it was so painful it took my breath away....I am dreading the gall bladder surgery. I hear its painful and they drain your band for awhile to do it. ughhh
